On our return from the Atlantic crossing, there were no excuses.
It was, at the very least, an enjoyable day.
We came in just a bit too hard at New York Harbor and had to do a glide out. But that was a pretty good sail to end the cruise with.
We were expecting to spend the day on shore at Roosevelt Island, but there was no dock space available. In the end we motor-skimmed back into port and then let the wind take us in.
We usually don't turn the ship around this late in the season, but it seemed the right thing to do.
We have a couple of hours of daylight left, so it will be another day or two before we have to turn the ship around and head back.
Our next sailing is on Sunday. We are leaving Thursday morning.
If you don't see our sailboat at the port, she's mooring in some pretty nice mooring locations.
The ocean is still warm, and it should get a little cooler over the next couple of days. That's good for us, as it keeps the mosquitoes and other biting insects away.
